Last Friday May 27, Elon Musk high-speed satellite internet venture Starlink is set to enter the Philippines after its local unit secured approval. This announcement shows promising potential to Philippine internet service as the Philippines rank slightly below average in both broadband and mobile internet speeds. Starlink offers its customers a starter kit for around $499 (P25000) with a monthly service of $99 (P5000). Musk reported that he plans to double the internet speed to 300 mbps as he continued launching 49 satellites bringing Starlink’s operation to around 1800 satellites around the orbit out of its 12000 satellite goal.
Elon’s Tweet
Satellite-run internet sounds very promising with its high potential in providing amazing internet speeds. And launching it in a country that has suffered from below average internet speeds, it sounds like a match made in heaven.
Or is it really?
Starlink not only is Musk’s satellite internet service but is also a service under his private aerospace company SpaceX. The technology that Musk’s SpaceX’s utilizes is also used for military operations such as DARPA, which is the research wing of the U.S. military. In addition to this, Musk’s satellite technology has been indeed utilized and has potential to be utilized for military operations and warfare such as with the ongoing fiasco in Ukraine. I am sure that sending a $60 billion check for weapons in Ukraine to feed the military industrial complex and to support a neo-Nazi terrorist group funded by the CIA in Ukraine is a “good” investment to join into according to Mr. Musk himself.
DARPA Military Operations (Sounds like some technocracy)
Speaking of DARPA and US Defense. We must not forget the shady gain-of-function research on COVID in the Wuhan laboratory that they have done with the likes of Peter Daszak, EcoHealth Alliance and crew. US Military and Defense also have a shady history on operations in regards to different undercover armies globally.
Musk himself has also shown some jabs in regards to the fiasco in Ukraine as he gave a jab to Vladimir Putin to a single combat. While this may be just a normal jab of Elon in his social media, the evidence of his technology being utilized for military warfare may say otherwise.
Elon giving a banter to Mr. Putin
In addition to all of this, let us not forget that Musk himself has gained his wealth at a WHOPPING 600%+ which is the highest among the billionaire class and even higher than the likes of Mark Zuckerberg and the vaccine-czar Bill Gates and anyone in Big Pharma who have gained profits during this whole “pandemic”.
I get it, we want very good internet and healthy competition of internet services in the country as we have below average to abysmal quality of internet. I definitely understand the hype of Musk’s internet service coming. But as consumers of this product, it is important as well to understand the person and the motives around his business and the moves he is about to make. Musk may indeed give us great quality internet but regardless we must keep an eye on Musk’s moves as some of the moves he has made especially military-wise and the similar tech used for military warfare still raises some eyebrows.
But hey for now, let’s celebrate some good quality internet for us to be removed from PLDT’s shackles while Elon puts his Neuralink microchips on the Filipino masses.
